Seller Description
This Citroen SM is one of the 2619 SMs assembled in UK in 1973 and one of the 2400 exported to the US in 1972 and 1973. It was brought back from California in 1991. It is chassis No. AC7300SD0217 and has engine no. 400378. It has the automatic gearbox. It has 88000 miles on the clock. It has been dry garaged since 1994 and the body is rust free to the best of my knowledge. I used it a few times for long runs when I first bought it. It was superb. Talk about eye candy! I discovered what it must be like to be a beautiful woman or George Clooney - the only pity being it was the car they were interested in, not me! It was until recently in original paint. That paintwork was looking tired so it has just had a full body respray. The engine starts first turn and runs beautifully and has had the Weber carbs rebuilt. Under the bonnet mechanicals have been overhauled, brakes and suspension overhauled, frayed and worn wiring replaced, high pressure hydraulic pipes have been replaced. The hydraulic system works. The exhaust needs replacing or rebuilding so the lack of back pressure does not allow the engine to run smoothly . The passenger side window winder has given up the ghost. The drivers side window winder is slow and tired. The radio is missing. The interior is original but grubby and tired and needs restoration. The rubber door seals, window seals and brushes etc. exist, but could do with replacing. I was going to carry out a full restoration but other things have been taking priority since 1994 so after 19 years it is time to give it up and hand this lovely over to someone else to enjoy.
